Consumer Broadband Services - How To Discuss
Consumer Broadband Services
A broadband access line is a connection between a consumer's home and the network of an operator that provides data access services at a speed of at least 256 Kbps. In most cases it is a physical connection via copper DSL, cable modem or FTTH/FTTP to Ethernet within the last mile of the building. However, Gartner also lists other new access technologies, such as wireless broadband, satellite and power lines, as replacement technologies for fixed broadband in the home. Broadband revenues include all retail revenues related to the provision of broadband access to consumers. This does not include revenues from IP services, especially internet access revenues, which are normally associated with broadband. Broadband and Internet access are two different services and the Internet access revenue is reflected in the Internet segment.
